Saint Nicholas’ Church
The vibe
Incense, candlelight, and an iconostasis that takes time to read.
Completed in 1909, Saint Nicholas' Serbian Orthodox Church is the grandest church in Kotor that most visitors walk past without entering. The interior is cooler and more heavily ornamented than the Cathedral of Saint Tryphon — an iconostasis heavy with gold, candlelight, the lingering smell of incense. Seek it out on the same morning as the Cathedral; the contrast is the point.
What we love
- Small groups, real guides, no scripted patter.
- The kind of access that you couldn't easily replicate on your own.
- A route that ends with a story, not just a receipt.
