This notice explains what personal data mntngro.com processes, why, on what legal basis, and the rights you have under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Montenegro's Law on Personal Data Protection. mntngro.com is a travel-discovery directory for Montenegro; it is not a booking engine and does not require an account.
Who we are
The controller responsible for your data is mntngro.com, operated from Montenegro. For any privacy question or to exercise the rights below, contact us at hello@mntngro.com.
What we process, and why
- Saved places. The places you save are stored in your browser's
localStorage— they stay on your device and are never sent to us. Clear them any time with Clear all saved on /saved. Legal basis: not personal data we hold, so none required. - Hosting & request logs. Our host (Vercel) records standard server logs — IP address, timestamp, requested URL, user agent — to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) in operating a secure service.
- Aggregate analytics. We use Vercel Analytics, which is cookieless and privacy-first: it measures page views and traffic in aggregate and does not set tracking cookies or build a profile of you. Legal basis: legitimate interest in understanding which pages are useful.
- Map tiles (Mapbox). The interactive map is served by Mapbox GL. When the map loads, your browser contacts Mapbox directly, which means your IP address and basic map-usage telemetry reach Mapbox as an independent controller for that interaction. See Mapbox's privacy policy. Legal basis: legitimate interest in providing map-based discovery.
We do not sell your data, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.
Processors and international transfers
We rely on a small set of infrastructure providers acting as our processors: Vercel (hosting, logs, analytics) and Supabase (database; EU region, eu-central-1). Mapbox acts as an independent controller for map interactions. Some of these providers are based in the United States; where data is transferred outside the EU/EEA it is covered by appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
Business listings
Our directory includes factual information about businesses in Montenegro (name, address, opening hours, contact details) gathered from public sources. Where this includes personal data of a sole trader, the legal basis is legitimate interest in maintaining a useful public directory, balanced against the limited, already-public nature of the data. If you operate a listed business and want your details corrected or removed, email hello@mntngro.com and we will action it promptly.
Retention
Server logs are kept for standard short operational windows set by our host and then rotated out. Aggregate analytics carry no identifier and are retained only in summarised form. Saved places live in your browser until you clear them.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and object to processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. To exercise any of these, contact hello@mntngro.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in Montenegro, the Agency for Personal Data Protection and Free Access to Information (AZLP), or your local EU authority.
Changes to this notice
If we add anything that collects new data — for example a different analytics tool or an enquiry form — we will update this page and the “last updated” date above before that change goes live.
