Tsar’s Bridge
The vibe
A parade of stone arches striding across the plain, built for floods that come and go.
Built in 1894 during King Nikola's modernisation of Nikšić and named in honour of Russian Tsar Alexander III, who helped fund it, Carev Most stretches its stone arches across a plain that floods only part of the year. The result is wonderfully surreal: a long, elegant bridge that often crosses dry grass. Come at golden hour, when the arches throw their best shadows.
What we love
- Water (or views) that justify the detour, not just the parking.
- Enough shade, shelter, and coffee within a hundred metres to make a day of it.
- A crowd profile that changes with the hour — go early or go at golden hour.
