Bedem (Onogošt Fortress, 4th century)
The vibe
Sixteen centuries of fortress wall, now the best stage in town.
Onogošt fortress — Bedem to locals — has watched over Nikšić since late antiquity, its walls layered by Romans, Ottomans and everyone in between. Today the ramparts earn their keep as a venue: Bedem Fest fills them with music each summer. The rest of the year they're yours for a quiet wander and broad views over the town.
What we love
- Water (or views) that justify the detour, not just the parking.
- Enough shade, shelter, and coffee within a hundred metres to make a day of it.
- A crowd profile that changes with the hour — go early or go at golden hour.
