Why mntngro.com exists
Montenegro is small. Thirteen thousand square kilometres, roughly the size of Connecticut. Two hours from coast to high mountains. And yet every visitor asks the same question on arrival: where should I actually go?
The answer used to live in three places — a local who spent an hour with you over coffee, a Lonely Planet edition from ten years ago, or a sortable list on a travel aggregator that ranked restaurants by review count rather than taste. None of those are good enough for a country this rewarding.
mntngro.com is an attempt at a fourth option. An interactive map with editorial behind every pin. No sponsored rankings. No algorithmic “trending now” that just reflects what other tourists also booked. Just places, mapped, with something to say about each.
The target is practical: we want someone landing at Tivat airport with 48 hours to spend to be able to open mntngro.com and build a plan they actually trust — not a plan they have to cross-reference against three other sources. We're not there yet. We're working on it.
“Where the mountains meet the sea” is a nicer phrase than it is a useful one. We'd rather tell you where to have lunch.
